This public key is part of how we handle sensitive contact with end-to-end encryption. Anything you encrypt with it can only be read by whoever holds the matching private key — not by random third parties or providers in the middle — so your messages and files stay confidential.
Using PGP helps keep what you send separate from your everyday identity: metadata and routing still matter, but the content itself is scrambled so it does not travel in plain text. Together with careful habits (for example using Tor and the onion mirror when available), that pushes you toward the strongest practical anonymity for talking to us.
You can also use this key to check that signed announcements from the team are genuine (not forged).
